An online space for Queer and Trans Muslims to pray and to share Queer and Trans joy together at Inclusive Mosque.

About this event

LGBTQIA+ Muslims are warmly invited to join Inclusive Mosque’s prayer and celebration event on Sunday 24th July 2022. We want to ask: what does Queer and/or Trans Muslim joy mean to you?

In this online space, we will take some time together to find links or resources, create art, write poetry, or reflect on the prompt, and then we’ll come together to share our responses with each other. This is totally optional and you won’t be asked to share. If you’re a Queer and/or Trans Muslim, you’re welcome to simply come and be in the space with us.

Please only register if you’re a Queer and/or Trans Muslim.

Event timings

  • 4.15pm (BST): Welcome
  • 4.25pm: Time to reflect on the prompt together
  • 4.40pm: Break
  • 4.45pm: Sharing and conversation space
  • 5.15pm: Break
  • 5.20pm: ‘Asr prayer
  • 5.40pm: Duas and close

This online event will be facilitated by IMI’s Programme Co-ordinator, Zainabb Hull (they/them). Zainabb is a trans, queer, disabled, brown femme from London who joined IMI in August 2020. Alongside their work at IMI, Zainabb is a freelance writer and editor, and recently survived a Master’s in Postcolonial Studies at SOAS. They’ve spent several years organising at a grassroots level, and they’re interested in anti-colonialism and anti-racism, disability justice, and Black and brown Trans joy.

This event is free, but donations are welcome (and needed!) We recommend a donation of £3 for this event.

Auto-captioning will be available at this event. We’re really sorry that we haven’t been able to arrange BSL interpretation for this event.

You can join and leave the event whenever you need to. Don’t worry about being late or leaving early. You don’t have to turn your video on.

Please let us know if you have any access needs we should be aware of or if there’s anything we can do to improve your experience at this event. You can email admin@inclusivemosque.org.

Inclusive Mosque Initiative is an intersectional feminist mosque dedicated to creating inclusive, safer places of worship and spiritual practice for marginalised communities. We are committed to reviving a rights-based Islam that challenges all forms of oppression. Please consider becoming a regular donor to Inclusive Mosque to help us cover costs and continue to offer these events for free. Thank you for supporting our work creating an intersectional feminist mosque that centres Muslims who are women, nonbinary, Queer, Black and/or disabled especially.
